“I’m 54 years old, and have always been in generally good health, but noticed a downward trend on my late 40s. It was a very difficult time in my life. While I didn't notice it so much at the time, this was the start of when I began gaining weight. My hormones were doing ‘those things’ that happen to women my age. As I got in my early 50's I would tell myself that a few extra pounds didn't matter anyway. I suppose that is true to a point. But it was more than just a few pounds.  

Last summer, my 18-year-old daughter expressed interest in joining Life Time, so I went with her to tour the facility and to sign her up. I had belonged to health clubs in the past, but it was something that had fallen out of my life about 15 years earlier as I became more involved in my kids' activities and my career. I had thought about getting back to it, but was intimidated by the thought of being surrounded my lots of young, fit bodies . . . and not having one myself. As I walked through the tour I was impressed with the facilities, but more importantly noticed that there were plenty of people there who looked ‘like me.’ After thinking about it for a few weeks, I decided to join too!

I signed up with Life Time in mid-July and had an introductory session with a trainer about a week later. He suggested that I work with a trainer on building up my strength and improving my posture. Somehow, he knew exactly who I needed to work with. About a week later I met a young woman who would not only help me with the physical challenges I was facing, but who was also tuned into my state of mind and was incredibly instrumental in getting me through becoming an empty nester and almost losing my mom.

I began my D.TOX℠ prep on January 15 and started the actual detox on February 1. Eliminating caffeine from my life was a challenge and took longer than a week. But I knew I could do it and that it would be worth it in the end. I followed the D.TOX program very carefully and am pleased with the results. I only lost a couple of pounds during the two-week detox phase, but after eight weeks, I lost nine pounds and five percent body fat. I feel that I am in a good place on my journey to a healthier lifestyle.

The biggest short-term impact that I noticed was that I didn't need to take ibuprofen anymore for daily aches and pains. Even more impressive were my numbers at my annual physical. I know that it is from the changes in my diet due to habits that were introduced as part of the D.TOX program. But this is only the tip of the iceberg on my journey to better health. 

I feel the best I have in perhaps 15 to 20 years! And I am well on my journey to a healthier life. Thank you to Life Time, to D.TOX, and especially to [my trainer] for being exactly what I needed to navigate these past eight months. Did I meet my goal of wanting to feel healthier? Yes, I absolutely did, but I'm not done yet! My next goal is tied to reducing my body fat percentage, but I'll need to save that story for another time.”
