YOU CAN DO ANYTHING IF YOU SET YOUR MIND TO IT!!

I have struggled with my weight ALL of my life.   I was the fat kid that did everything to avoid running the mile in gym class, or anything else for that matter.   I am an ‘expert dieter’, at the age of 17, I was a “Lifetime” Member of Weight Watchers.  After marrying an amazing Chef and having two children that “Lifetime” status seemed like an unobtainable goal.  I struggled with each pound though I was doing ‘everything right.’  Being a Nurse, I knew that something was wrong.   After doctoring for months and searching for a reason for my many symptoms and weight gain, I was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease.  I underwent Pituitary Surgery at The Mayo Clinic in July of 2011 and began the journey to a new, healthy me!

During my initial recovery, I met with Nicole Boos, for a nutrition consultation.  She set up a plan for me and taught me a new way to eat. I learned about many foods that I had no idea existed.  My diet underwent so many changes; I can't even begin to detail them all.   My surgery was a success and I was able to wean myself off of steroids and begin working on losing weight.  As the months progressed, my energy started coming back and I was able to get back into a routine of going to Life Time.  I started slow with swimming a few times a week.  The Cushings caused a lot of muscle wasting, so I had to build my strength back up.  After being a member of Life Time Fitness for 1 year, I acquired LT bucksIn January I made the phone call to use my LT Bucks for a few sessions with a personal trainer.   I had no idea that when Brenda Schwieters answered the phone she would make such an impact on my life.  From the minute I met her, I knew she was different from any of the trainers I had worked with before.  I enjoyed my sessions with Brenda immensely and decided to join her TEAM Fitness group.   TEAM is a crazy adventure every day, so crazy that I was hooked immediately and am on my second session.  Each day Brenda pushes us to the limit and beyond.  She is not only my personal trainer, but she has become my friend.  She genuinely cares for her clients and knows what to do to help us reach our goals.  I never thought I'd say that I actually look forward to going to the gym!

I have met some wonderful people during my journey at Life Time, from my friends in TEAM “WINK”, to the other trainers, nutrition expert Darryl Bushard, Vanessa Romero and her website “Healthylivinghowto.com’  and other members.  There is a wealth of knowledge floating around inside the club each day.

I started this journey 44 pounds ago, I am so happy with the results I have had thus far and look forward to achieving my next goals.  Never in my life did I think I would pay someone to make me push a towel across a gym floor on my hands, but because of the challenges we face each day I am registered for my first 5K in June!  I have a new outlook on life, a new found happiness and energy.   I owe a huge Thank You to my surgeon for the first step of my recovery, but owe a MILLION “Thank-You’s” to Brenda Schwieters and all of my friends at Life Time!!
