Breakfast is notoriously a tough meal for people. Many don’t have time for it - they’re rushing to get out the door each day and it’s usually an after-thought. Others just aren’t hungry in the morning and see breakfast as an optional meal.

But getting in a quality breakfast can set the entire tone for the day – preventing that mid-morning crash and possibly even poor choices later in the day. I know for me, knowing I’ve already had a win (by eating a good breakfast) makes it easier to say yes to the right things later and resist temptation when it inevitably creeps up.

There's something about breakfast that seems to set the course for the day. Certainly, a high carb, low protein breakfast can set us up for a late morning energy crash, which too often descends into a series of bad choices and their consequences. When we begin the day with a healthy, filling choice, however, we've not only nourished our bodies with the right balance, but we've already scored one for success that day. There's something immensely gratifying about being able to chalk up a win right away. For me, I've found it makes it that much easier to say yes to the right choices later and resist temptation when it creeps up. Among the most common questions I get from clients are those that revolve around breakfast—specifically what to eat and whether they even need to bother eating it!  Many people are used to considering breakfast as an optional meal. They don’t have time for it, they claim. They’d rather “save” the calories for later. Others simply aren’t hungry in the morning or dislike breakfast foods in general.  What we have to ask ourselves is ‘why?’  Why wouldn’t we start our day with the best fuel for our bodies?
